Carlo Mollino
Stile, 31, July 1943

Gio Ponti invited Carlo Mollino to participate to the Garzanti competition for the design of furniture to be industrially manufactured. Ponti foresaw the necessity of low cost furniture to be produced in large quantities to serve the reconstruction of Italy after the war. He then published the drawings and proposal by Carlo Mollino in Stile, the magazine he was the editor in chief. Even though these furniture were never produced they witness Mollino's approach to the problem of industrial design.
